{"id":212,"date":"2014-06-27T22:12:29","date_gmt":"2014-06-28T04:12:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.grassmonk.net\/blog\/?p=212"},"modified":"2014-06-27T10:13:33","modified_gmt":"2014-06-27T16:13:33","slug":"another-really-silly-blast-from-the-past","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.grassmonk.net\/blog\/2014\/06\/27\/another-really-silly-blast-from-the-past\/","title":{"rendered":"Another really silly blast from the past"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When I <a title=\"Poetism Commentary: \u201cLe Singe et Son Thon\u201d\" href=\"http:\/\/www.grassmonk.net\/blog\/2014\/06\/26\/poetism-commentary-le-singe-et-son-thon\/\">found some old poems I wrote for a BYU French class<\/a> I also found printouts of silly soda-related writings I sometimes did back when I worked with my cousin doing customer support for a smallish company.\u00a0 I posted one of them a few years ago <a title=\"A really silly blast from the past\" href=\"http:\/\/www.grassmonk.net\/blog\/2008\/01\/19\/a-really-silly-blast-from-the-past\/\">here<\/a>.\u00a0 Here is the other:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>twelve fluid ounces (spidey remix)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>twelve fluid ounces<br \/>\nyou&#8217;ve always been my friend<br \/>\neven past the expiration date tattooed on your end<br \/>\nnow in recent months I see<br \/>\nyou have pictures on your face<br \/>\npictures of Spidey<br \/>\nhe&#8217;s in so many poses: swinging, hanging upside down<br \/>\ncrouching, crawling all over the town<br \/>\nso I build a house from you, twelve fluid, a house for the homies<br \/>\neven though some people made fun of you and called you bologna<br \/>\nit has a dance room and a make-out closet and even a big screen TV<br \/>\neven if the TV is invisible and maybe imaginary<br \/>\nthen the spidey phase passed<br \/>\nbut I still drank you up<br \/>\nI poured you in a red plastic cup<br \/>\nsometimes ice, sometimes no ice<br \/>\nwhichever way I go, you still taste nice<br \/>\nand then came a glorious Pepper day<br \/>\nyou have rogue on your can<br \/>\nyippee hooray!<br \/>\nsome of the spidey house had to come down<br \/>\nbut a hot girl took his place so I sure didn&#8217;t frown<br \/>\nwe moved the make-out closet to rogue&#8217;s wing<br \/>\nso the homies can go there and do their thing<br \/>\ntwelve fluid ounces you really are my life-long friend<br \/>\nI hope that our friendship will never end<br \/>\nif it does I&#8217;ll kick your scrawny little Pepper butt<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The backstory, if it isn&#8217;t clear from the masterful prose, is that we built a &#8220;house&#8221; in our cubicle space out of empty soda cans that had Spider-Man on them.\u00a0 These were, I assume, promotional tie-ins to the movie <em>Spider-Man<\/em>.\u00a0 Then when <em>X2<\/em> came out we replaced part of the house with new X-Men cans, specifically those featuring Anna Paquin&#8217;s Rogue, because she is hot.\u00a0 I still haven&#8217;t had to kick Pepper&#8217;s butt, which is good.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Twelve fluid ounces&#8221; is also the title of a couple of my haiku: <a title=\"twelve fluid ounces (special haiku remix)\" href=\"\/hh\/twelve-fluid-ounces-special-haiku-remix\/\">twelve fluid ounces (special haiku remix)<\/a> and <a title=\"twelve fluid ounces (alternative dark)\" href=\"\/hh\/twelve-fluid-ounces-alternative-dark\/\">twelve fluid ounces (alternative dark)<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When I found some old poems I wrote for a BYU French class I also found printouts of silly soda-related writings I sometimes did back when I worked with my cousin doing customer support for a smallish company.\u00a0 I posted one of them a few years ago here.\u00a0 Here is the other: twelve fluid ounces [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[1],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.grassmonk.net\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/212"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.grassmonk.net\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.grassmonk.net\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.grassmonk.net\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.grassmonk.net\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=212"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.grassmonk.net\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/212\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.grassmonk.net\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=212"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.grassmonk.net\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=212"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.grassmonk.net\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=212"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
