{"id":211,"date":"2014-06-26T21:54:43","date_gmt":"2014-06-27T03:54:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.grassmonk.net\/blog\/?p=211"},"modified":"2020-06-30T11:48:55","modified_gmt":"2020-06-30T17:48:55","slug":"poetism-commentary-le-singe-et-son-thon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.grassmonk.net\/blog\/2014\/06\/26\/poetism-commentary-le-singe-et-son-thon\/","title":{"rendered":"Poetism Commentary: &#8220;Le Singe et Son Thon&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The poem in question: is here.<\/p>\n<p>Several weeks ago I was going through some boxes in my closet and found two poems that I wrote for assignments in a French class at BYU. \u00a0This is the sillier of the two; the other will be the subject of my next commentary. \u00a0This is called &#8220;Le Singe et Son Thon&#8221; (&#8220;The Monkey and His Tuna&#8221;).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Il y avait une tortue qui voulait du thon,<br \/>\na demand\u00e9 d&#8217;un singe s&#8217;il en aurait un peu.<br \/>\nLe singe a dit, Quoi? \u00a0Le demander \u00e0\u00a0moi?<br \/>\nAllez ailleurs, attendez dans une queue!<br \/>\nLa tortue a pleur\u00e9, elle a mendi\u00e9,<br \/>\nDonnez-moi du thon, j&#8217;en ai besoin!<br \/>\nLe singe a glouss\u00e9, glouss\u00e9, et glouss\u00e9,<br \/>\na dit, C&#8217;est ton probl\u00e8me, pas le mien!<br \/>\nLa tortue a cri\u00e9, Pourquoi \u00eatre vilain?<br \/>\nEst-ce que vous ne m&#8217;aimez pas?<br \/>\nLe singe a dit, non, mais j&#8217;ai une le\u00e7on<br \/>\nque je vous enseigne maintenant:<br \/>\n<em>Le thon sera bon<\/em><br \/>\n<em> la semaine prochaine<\/em><br \/>\n<em> mais cette semaine-ci<\/em><br \/>\n<em> il faut que tu te baignes.<\/em><br \/>\nEn r\u00e9alisant qu&#8217;elle se sentait mauvais,<br \/>\nla tortue a promis un bain,<br \/>\nseulement si le singe lui promet du pain\u2014<br \/>\nle thon\u2014avec un peu de lait.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And a rough translation:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>There was a turtle who wanted some tuna,<br \/>\nand asked a monkey if he had any.<br \/>\nThe monkey said, What?
