The Danger In Dreams

You may say there's no danger in dreams
But I come to say you're mistaken;
It may appear you're safe in slumber
But there you can become most forsaken.

The shattered dreams of mortal men
Come back to haunt them nightly--
Recurrences of what is and was,
Festering shadows of what might be.

A dream is something to be feared,
Not to be taken for granted,
For the danger in dreams is that
Seeds both bad and good can be planted.
